New cast iron Posts and Railings for Camborne Parish Church
The original 1887 cast iron railings were removed from the front wall of Camborne Parish Church during the Second World War c1942-1943. The distinctive design was cast at Holman's Foundry, situated at No. 3 Works in Trevu Road, Camborne. Only two other churches used this design of railings - St Agnes Parish Church and a Chapel at Roscroggan, Camborne.
The Victorian decorative arch and lantern were also removed back in the mid 1960's leaving the frontage of the Church looking incomplete.
However, in 2006, the proprietor of JW Engineering, John Woodward, was invited to tender for a project to design, make and erect new cast iron railings to this Grade 1 listed building.
After spending many hours studying three Victorian photographs (one shown below) of the church frontage provided by David Thomas (President of Camborne Old Cornwall Society), John submitted a set of drawings based on the original design and his tender was accepted.

| Using the photographs provided as guidance, John is confident that all his designs for Camborne Parish Church are as close as possible to the original Victorian architecture that once surrounded this beautiful medieval church. |

New Hand Rail and Gate for the Parish Vestry and Clink
The above photographs show the new hand rail and gate specifically designed, manufactured and fitted to this 1820 building.
John produced a Georgian style design, in-keeping with the buildings history using the traditional hot lead method to secure the metalwork into the granite copings.

Reinstatement of Edwardian Style Railings and Gate
The property lies within a building conservation area and, as such, John Woodward (proprietor of JW Engineering) based his design on the original railings shown here below.
| The above 1893 photograph (kindly supplied by David Thomas) shows the property which was previously the Headmaster's house, together with the neighbouring building (formerly Basset Road School) now occupied by Camborne Town Council. |
Reinstatement of Victorian Railings and Gate
at Basset Road, Camborne
| The reinstatement of these railings and gate took quite a time to research. There are two surviving photographs of the originals - one is out of focus but shows the general shape of the finial and the other (shown below) was very confusing until it was realised that it showed what appears to be a bamboo fence inside which was weaved to the railing finials. |
